Volunteers

THANK YOU to the many volunteers who make the
Sun Life Financial Waterloo Busker Carnival happen!

If you would like to be part of this year's team of volunteers during the carnival and get a free cool t-shirt, there's still time to join in the fun! You will need to complete and submit our Online Volunteer Application Form or download the Volunteer Application Form and fill it out prior to volunteering. Please call 519-747-8769 for more information on how to become a volunteer!

Volunteer Orientation will take place at 7pm on Monday, August 20th, 2012 at the Hauser Haus room on the second floor of the Waterloo Memorial Recreational Complex at 101 Father David Bauer Drive.

Here are a list of the positions that are available:

Street Set-up and Take-down

Volunteers will help set up the Carnival, equipment and clean up the street. Volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes during their shifts and be able to comfortably lift 50 lbs. IMPORTANT: All volunteers in this position must be able to follow instructions precisely and be comfortable asking questions if they do not understand the instructions given.

Information Booth Attendant

Volunteers at the Information Booth assist the public by answering general questions about the Carnival and providing directions to different areas within the Carnival. The Information Booth also serves as the "Lost Child" centre. All lost children will be brought to the Information Booth and parents looking for their children will be directed to the Information Booth. Also, the Information Booth Volunteer assists all volunteers, managing the sign in/out book, helping volunteers find their work areas and distributing refreshments to the volunteers.

Souvenir Booth Volunteers

Volunteers working at the Souvenir Booth assist the public with purchases of Carnival souvenirs. The Souvenir Booth is open throughout the Carnival and volunteers working at the Souvenir Booth help to promote the Carnival by providing friendly and helpful service to the public.

Roving Freezie Sellers

Grab that wagon with your cooler full of freezies and get some exercise roving up and down King St. Excellent role for the young at heart! (comfortable shoes required).

Carnival Ambassadors

Carnival Ambassadors circulate through the crowd answering questions, handing out programs, assisting, as required, in ensuring that everyone is able to safely enjoy the Carnival. Carnival Ambassadors do not use physical force of any kind, are available to offer assistance if the situation warrants it (i.e. an emergency, locating lost children) and always work in pairs.

Pitch Manager

The Pitch Manager stays at each one of the pitches. They help the Entertainment Manager by letting them know when the performer has arrived at the site. During the performance, they let the performer know how much time they have for their show. This helps ensure that a performer does not run over time. When a performance is over, the Pitch Manager ensures that the site is clean and ready for the next performance.
